Governor of Sokoto State Aminu Tambuwal on Wednesday swore in the newly-elected local government council chairmen.
He appealed to them to pay attention to the rising insecurity in the state
The Governor, shortly after administering the oath of office on them said the present security challenges has made it imperative for chairmen to stay and find solution to the specific crisis in their local government.
Tambuwal said the local government is the driver of development at the grassroots and the chairmen must not give room for failure.
He instructed the chairmen to hold security meetings regularly and furnish the state government with the outcome of their meetings yo ensure effective statewide planning.
Governor Tambuwal also encouraged them to treat everyone in the local government with fairness irrespective of party affiliation.
He commended the state electoral body, security agencies, residents in the state as well as traditional and religious leaders for the peaceful conduct of the election.
