Armed robbers have killed two security guards employed to protect a filling station in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
One of the victims was identified as Israel, 45, while the other one was said to have been employed two days before the incident.
The robbers were said to have struck at the newly established A.A.Rano filling station located at Customs junction along Ondo road on Saturday night.
The security guards were shot dead and it was not clear if the robbers made away with anything as at press time.
A supervisor in the station, Mr Buhari Ashiru, said the victims were found at about 5.30am on Sunday when staff resumed duty.
Ashiru said the robbers failed in their effort to break into the safe in one of the offices
He said the corpses have been taken away by the Police.
Ondo Police spokesman, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the killings and said investigation has commenced into the incident.
Meanwhile, three persons have been killed in a road accident along Akure/Ore highway.
Sources said the accident happened at about 7am on Sunday.
Three other persons were said to have sustained injuries in the accident.
Witnesses said the driver lost control and rammed into a tree.
