Donald Ojogo, Ondo state Commissioner for Information on Sunday said it is disheartening that the opposition in the state are engaging in campaign of calumny to score cheap political points ahead of this weekend’s governorship election in the state.
Ojogo, who was a guest on ChannelsTelevision programmed ‘Sunday Politics’ was responding to a claim by Dr. Benson Enikuomehin, the Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Barr. Eyitayo Jegede who claimed that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has not recorded enough achievements to deserve reelection.
According to Ojogo, the APC defeated Ondo in 2016 and will repeat the feat again come October 10.
“We are contesting on a tripod of hardwork, performance and integrity. That is our mantra”.
“ If the Ore Industrial Park that has employed over 4,000 workers is not an achievement, then we are sorry to say that he has missed the point. If the construction of the Ore Flyover is not an achievement, then I don’t know what could be determined as an achievement for anybody”.
“ If the OSUSTECH, now renamed the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology that was abandoned for eight years but has been revived with internal roads and new blocks constructed, in the South where I come from, where Enikuomehin comes from, where the deputy governor comes from, then it will be a misnomer for people to say that there has not been achievements”
“If over 400 kilometres of road has been constructed within a space of three and half years in Ondo state and people say those are not achievements, then we now know the manner of campaign people are running. If over 600 classrooms, primary schools are either been rebuilt, renovated or rehabilitated and people come here to say, nothing has happened, then something must be wrong with our electoral campaign”.
