Ilawe Flood Disaster: Senator Sympathises With Ekiti Monarch | Independent Newspapers Nigeria


A chieftain  of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP),Senator Abiodun Olujimi has sympathised with the Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti and Chairman, Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Ajibade Alabi over the weekend flood disaster which ravaged his community and other towns in Ekiti State .

Olujimi,the  Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial  District described  the incident as most  unfortunate .

Olujimi who sent a delegation of party leaders led  by factional  PDP Chairman, Hon Kehinde Odebunmi sympathized with the monarch while urging the people of the town to seek caution and desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse and erection of structures  on water ways to avoid the reoccurrence of the unfortunate incident.

The legislator said the gory video circulated online showed the worrisome havock recked on the community by the unfortunate flood, hence the need to Sympathise with the Kabiesi and the people of Ilawe-Ekiti.

Olujimi said she had long envisaged the likely effect of not having a properly dredged drainages, which according to her had prompted her decision to have dredged a 1.8 meter drainage she constructed in Okebedo area of the town during her first tenure in the Senate. 

In his response, Oba Alabi thanked Senator Olujimi for her consistency and swift response to the welfare of her constituents. While seeking government’s attention where necessary to ensure safety of lives and properties of its citizenry.

Hon Idowu Akinbode, the local government’s party Chairman, in his vote of thanks appreciated the monarch for his responsive leadership and proactive management of his community and subjects, he therefore assured Oba Alawe of maximum cooperation and support on policies that would bring unhindered development to the towns of the local government.
