LAGOS – Lion Irene Ikpeazu, the new President of Ikeja Exclusive Lions Club, on Thursday donated 50 packs of maternity kits to mothers and babies at the General Hospital in Ifako Ijaiye, Lagos.
She also promised that her tenure would touch more lives.
“When you become a president, you have to come up with a project or activity for the month. So, I thought I had to start with mothers and babies. They are the managers of the homes, which informed the giving out of the kits to our pregnant women. I am very happy about the turn out at the event and the women are happy too. There was a special thing that happened, a woman who put to bed at 12 am today, I removed one of the packs and gave it to her. We are all happy,” she said.
Kayode Oshunuga, the district governor, 404B-2 Nigeria, commended Ikeja Exclusive Lions Club for putting the pregnant women first.
“This is one of clubs under administration of District 404B-2 and the members have thought it wise for their July activity. The month of July being the first month of our Lions year, to start their activity by reaching out to pregnant women, knowing well that some of these women would not be able to afford some basic things they need to take to the labour room. And that explains the reason they decided to reach out in their own little way to touch their lives and make life better for them.”
