ADO-EKITI – The viral video showing the alleged sealing of a private school in Ado-Ekiti by officials of the State Internal Revenue Service has generated controversy.
It was learnt that the school was allegedly shut during the academic hours making it difficult for parents to gain access to their wards at closing hours.
Daily Independent gathered that the school was sanctioned for defaulting in certain Income Tax.
A source said angry parents later forced the gate open at late hours to rescue their wards but the tax officials allegedly came back to seal the gate of the school for the second time.
Though, Ekiti State Government had dismissed allegation saying that no pupils were held hostage.
However, a release by Akin Omole, the Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, clarified that government was investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged episode.
The statement added that a comprehensive statement would be issued once the finding was concluded.
