COVID-19: Record-Breaking 21,897 New Infections In Poland | Independent Newspapers Nigeria


The Health Ministry announced 21,897 new confirmed COVID-19 infections in Poland, increasing the total number of cases recorded in the country to 362,731 including 216,820 still active. The number of active cases was 200,759 yesterday.

The ministry also announced 280 new fatalities, of which 41 were due to COVID-19 alone and 239 out of COVID-19 and concurrent diseases. The death toll in Poland went up to 5,631.

According to the ministry, a total of 504,706 people are quarantined and 48,928 are placed under epidemiological surveillance, whilst 140,280 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the country so far. As it stands, there are still 216,820 active cases of the coronavirus in Poland.

The number of occupied ventilators amounts to 1,305 out of 1,807 available.

As of Saturday morning, as many as 45,996,506 coronavirus cases, 1,195,064 deaths and 33,292,197 recoveries have been confirmed worldwide.

The US remains the country with the largest number of confirmed coronavirus cases, amounting to 9,318,043. India comes second most with 8,137,119 cases and Brazil third with 5,519,528.
