A’Ibom Govt To Shut Down Hotels, Others Linked To Cult, Criminal Activities


UYO – Akwa Ibom State govern­ment has said that it would clamp down on hotels and other relaxation centres with links to cultism and other criminal activities.

The decision, according to government, was informed by credible intelligence that hotel owners and proprietors of entertainment centres had given their premises to cult groups and other criminal gangs to use as bases.

In a release signed by the state Commissioner for Infor­mation and Strategy, Com­rade Ini Ememobong, and made available to Daily Inde­pentin Uyo on Thursday, the state government said that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and security agen­cies have set up a monitoring team to enforce the order.

“TAKE NOTICE that the state government will shut down hotels and other enter­tainment centres linked with cult and criminal activities.

“This decision is informed by credible intelligence that hotel owners and proprietors of entertainment centres have given their premises to cult groups and other crim­inal gangs to use as their base.

“The Ministry of Culture and Tourism and security agencies have set up a mon­itoring team to enforce this order.

“The public, especially proprietors of hotels and places of entertainment, should take note and act ac­cordingly,“ the release stated.
