John Mahama Explains Why He Hasn’t Involved Celebrities In His Campaign

The flagbearer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has explained why he hasn’t involved any entertainment celebrity in his campaign ahead of the December elections.

In 2016, Mahama was endorsed by celebrities including popular Nigerian actor, Nkem Owoh aka Osuofia, but he lost the elections.

In an interview with Starr FM, Tuesday, Mahama explained that he has decided not to include celebrities because their careers come under threat.

I said I don’t want to get celebrities and musicians involved in my campaign because it brings their careers under threat. Some people will say because they made music for this party, I won’t buy your music or watch your movies.

We don’t understand some of these things. In Ghana when a musician makes music for you, he comes under antipathy from the other party, which shouldn’t be so.

Musicians will make music for you and all that but it doesn’t really amount to an endorsement

Ahead of this year’s elections, so far, two celebrities – Sarkodie and Samini – have endorsed President Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
