Gunmen Shoot Bauchi Auditor-General, Abduct Two


Bauchi state is bordered by seven states, Kano and Jigawa to the north, Taraba and Plateau to the south, Gombe and Yobe to the east and Kaduna to the west.

 

Gunmen have shot the Bauchi State auditor-general, Alhaji Abdu Aliyu after a failed abduction attempt Saturday evening. 

His 25-year-old son and one fifty-year-old man who were said to be travelling along with him were kidnapped.

The Bauchi State police public relations officer DSP Ahmed Wakili confirmed the incident, which he said happened along Kardam village of Tafawa Balewa local government area.

Wakili said the auditor-general’s vehicle appeared to have been trailed  while on his way to his village in Tafawa Balewa local government area by gunmen who opened fire on the vehicle and shot the auditor-general at close range after he resisted kidnap.

He was rushed to the general hospital in tafawa balewa by passers-by and later transferred to the trauma center in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital. 

The police said efforts are underway to rescue the victims and arrest perpetrators.
